Tuya Natsagdorj

Tuya Natsagdorj (b. 1970, Ulaanbaatar) trained at the Fine Art College in Ulaanbaatar (1986–90), studied scene painting in Kyiv, Ukraine (1990–91) and later at the School of Art in Kyoto, Japan (2002–03). She has worked as a freelance artist since 1991.

Her expressionist canvases centre on Mongolian women — sisters, brides, queens, a girl at sixteen springs — painted with saturated colour and tenderness. She has held solo exhibitions in Tokyo, Utah and Kyoto, and was included in “Progress of the World's Women” in New York in 2000.
