Education. “My name is Tolgau, which means ‘initiate’ in Kazakh. I was born November 17, 1977. My older brother’s name is Oilan, which means ‘think,’ and my sister’s name, Bakhadgul, means ‘happiness.’ Together, they express the idea: “Think, initiate and then live happy.”My father is a craftsman and my mother is a kindergarten music teacher. We grew up in a fantastic universe of color and music and started painting when we were two years old. I would look at my older brother’s paintings and dream of becoming a famous and talented artist. My father taught me to take satisfaction, appreciation and happiness from art and color, and that is why I respect and love him. As time goes by, I feel even more deeply that my life in art is my life.”.
