Erdenebayar Monkhor (b. 1968, Baruun-Urt) graduated from the Fine Art College in Ulaanbaatar in 1987 and the Fine Art Institute in 1996. The horse is his central motif — single horses, herds in dark weather, compositions reduced to a few charged forms — painted with a modernist economy that sets him apart from the realist tradition.
