Rounded Composition 1, 2009
Bazo (Batzorig) Dugarsuren
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
B. 1979
Abstract · Minimalist · Geometric
Bazo — Batzorig Dugarsuren (b. 1979, Sukhbaatar Aimag) — is among the youngest voices in the collection. He studied at the Fine Art Institute in Ulaanbaatar from 1999 to 2004 and has worked as a freelance artist since.
Where much of the collection holds the figure and the steppe, Bazo works in pure geometric abstraction: the square-format “Rounded Composition” series builds quiet, minimalist arrangements of curved form and colour — a generation raised after the transition, painting structure rather than memory. The collection holds the series alongside his composition “Human Rights”.
