Batjargal Tseintsogzol

Batjargal Tseintsogzol (1966–2020) was a Mongolian painter working in a realist and photorealist idiom. Born in Ulaanbaatar, he trained at the College of Fine Art there in 1987, began his career as an artist at the UMA branch in Erdenet, and worked as a freelance painter from 1991.

His subjects move across Mongolian life and figure — ballet dancers, eagle hunters, herders, and historical figures such as Queen Manduhai — rendered with close observational detail and a warm, luminous palette. From the mid-2000s his work reached international audiences through exhibitions and art fairs across North America, Europe and Asia.
