Horse, 2007 Modern / Contemporary · Realism · Nature
Amgalanbaatar Nyamkhuu (1955–2014) graduated from the Mongolian Fine Art College in 1979 and the Art Academy in Moscow in 1981 as a graphic art designer. Over a long institutional career he served as Deputy Head of the Monumental Decoration Atelier and Director of the Modern Art Gallery in Ulaanbaatar, and from 2000 as painter and designer at the Natural and Historical Museum.
His quiet countryside canvases and horses came to wider attention with his first solo exhibition in April 2005. Since his death in 2014 the paintings form a closed body of work — nothing will be added to it — held and presented by the gallery.
